So my brother just had a baby. Well, his wife did anyway, and it's his...So they have a baby now. I'm so excited! Especially these last few weeks we were really worried. My nephew Matthew died 7 months along because somehow the umbilical chord became separated, or just wasn't getting the food he needed to him. I think that experience broke all of our hearts. It turned out it was caused by a problem that was genetic, or just couldn't be fixed, so my sis-in-law was very restricted during this pregnancy, and had to get daily shots to ensure this one would turn out okay. A few weeks ago we all fasted because their latest ultra sound revealed that he wasn't growing like he should, and they'd have to take him early. It must have worked, because he's here now, at 4 lbs 9 oz, and no C section. It's a nice little miracle for them right now, and for the rest of us too. They really deserve it.
I played Ultimate Frisbee this morning. I know, not as exciting as what I've written so far, but whatever. I had fun. I haven't played for quite some time, and last time I almost passed out during because of my blood sugar or something. This time I drank a lot of gatorade and ate chocolate beforehand. It turned out much better, and I choose to give the credit to the Snickers. I managed to get dog piled at one point in there, and was sure I must have broken my nose, but it was a false alarm. The worst was that it bleed a little, and not much, no doubt because it was all frozen in my nose. I was not expecting to find snow on the ground this morning. There wasn't any at my house anyway.
I can't believe it's already Saturday. My weeks pass too quickly, and too little happens within them when left up to me. I'm unambitious lately, what can I say. But I'll force myself to be better for the rest of the day at least. I think we're having night games tonight, so we'll see how that goes. I don't know how I'll handle having had all these idle weeks suddenly followed by two energy requiring activities falling on the same day. I did baby sit quite a lot this week actually, so I think that's where most of the week went. It's amazing how kids suck the life out of you, and they weren't even my kids. I was down in Lindon last night with 4 of my nieces and nephews. My oldest nephew is 13, so he pretty much took care of himself; except when I had to wallop him with all of those McDonald's-type-play-pen-balls we happened to have around. I don't know where my parents get these things (well actually I do, they love auctions like nothing else), but then they give them to my siblings for their kids. I'm actually quite a terrible shot sometimes, so that made it more enjoyable, and my 2 year old nephew kept crossing lines to pick up balls to throw back to me. Occasionally he threw them at me, and when I threw them back he told me not to, so I didn't. It's amazing how a little kid can peg you with something, and then look so reproaching when you try doing the same. The look just made me ashamed. He used to be a mamma's boy, and he cried when she left, but I quickly comforted him and he became my special friend. The absolute perk of the evening, visit, day, month...I could go on...was hearing my 13 year old nephew squeal like a girl--twice. I love it when he does that, and my throwing things hat him brought it about. My oldest niece, who will be 11 this coming month, probably required the least amount of work. She's quite helpful in nature, and I didn't even have to change anything. The baby, however, is a total mamma's girl. My sister can't be in the same room without her crying if she's not holding her. And then at first if my niece wasn't holding her she was crying as well. Finally we got to the point where if I wasn't holding her she was crying. It was quite the victory for myself, and if doing so wouldn't have hindered me from doing everything else, it would have been a complete victory at that. So I'm glad I spent time with them, no matter how exhausting that time was. I took many beautiful pictures in the meantime. Oh, and I got to spend Dr. Seus's birthday at Duckling's work playing with kids in Resource. You'll all be happy to know that I won at Uno, and many children wanted to sit by me. I also have a new favorite; well, a few new favorites, but one that makes me really laugh. Any kid that will go up to a complete stranger, put his watch in their ear, then stick one of their fingers in that person's other ear, all so they can hear his new watch...That's classic. It wasn't my ear by the way, as we're not complete strangers. Good times. I had a scare with my new ipod too, but fortunately Duckling stepped in and saved the day. I still owe her, though that was a very fetching "Shive a Git" shirt I made her recently.
That, my friends, is life at the moment. Not a bad one by any means, though their are a lot of things I need to work on, get started with, finish, etc... You never know what will ultimately happen in life, so you might as well make the best of things. That said, I will try to make the best of studying Biochem.

Nieces and nephews are great. I went home on Friday and three of two of my nieces and one of my nephews were playing with balloons. I could watch kids play with balloons all day; they get so excited.
I have a 2 year old nephew who is a total balloon hoarder. He's obsessed with them. And because there are 3 other 2 year olds in the ranks of my aunthood, it's definitely an interesting experience to watch them play with balloons; but more because they are totally duking it out. His birthday party was a prime example. Nevermind that their were plenty for everyone; a lot of tears were shed that day.
